Established in 1997, the Port Wentworth Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center is a private non-profit, 501 © 6, organization created to:

  • Seek out and encourage businesses to locate in the incorporated area of Port Wentworth, Georgia
  • Promote the City of Port Wentworth as a travel destination regionally, domestically and internationally
  • Support and strengthen existing businesses
  • Provide leadership and unity for the citizens of Port Wentworth

Our organization is seeking an experienced sales and marketing professional to add to our growing team as the Business Development Coordinator. We are a service minded organization whose purpose is to support our business and tourism partners. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful outside sales experience and the ability to meet sales goals. The position offers the opportunity for bonuses based on achieving those goals.


POSITION TITLE: Business Development Coordinator


DEPARTMENT: Membership / Tourism
GENERAL SUMMARY: The Port Wentworth Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking a dedicated, creative individual to fulfill duties as a full-time Business Development Coordinator. This position is responsible for recruiting new members, the retention of existing members, event coordination and growing non-dues revenue primarily through sponsorships.

  • Successfully manage and market high-quality business-to-business networking programs that will assist member companies and expand their business opportunities
  •  New member recruitment/fulfillment and retention of existing members to achieve annual revenue goals
  • Membership management including database updates, current directory, calendar of events and reports
  • Create and maintain strong working relationships with local businesses and tourism partners
  • Coordinate promotional days at the GA State Visitors Center to drive visitors to Port Wentworth
  • Assist President/CEO with planning and management of chamber and tourism events
  • Sponsorship recruitment for all events
  • Work with vendors in setting up events
  • Coordination of ribbon cuttings and ground breakings for new and existing members
  • Conduct new member orientation
  • Assist with planning and management of annual membership drive
  • Works with members, tourism partners and other organizations to develop content for e-newsletters
  • Assist in implementation and coordinating programs of works as directed under the President/CEO
  • Respond to calls and visits from visitors, members and prospects
  • Represents the Chamber of Commerce to members and clients in a professional manner
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Outside sales experience
  • Demonstrated accountability to meet goals by deadline and to follow-up rigorously
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Required to handle multiple projects at one time with high degree of accuracy and excitement
  • Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and databases
  • Positive Can-do Attitude and Willingness to learn
  • Team Player
  • Outside / business to business sales experience preferred, but not required


  • Starting pay plus opportunity for bonus based on achieving budget goals

Terms of Employment : 30 days and then annual evaluation of job performance by President/CEO
