PORT WENTWORTH, GA – September 25, 2018 –The Port Wentworth Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its ninth annual Oyster Roast, BBQ & Music Festival – a beloved community event that draws an impressive crowd to the quaint coastal community every November.

This year’s celebration is slated for 3-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Renasant Bank Grounds at 7224 GA Highway 21 in Port Wentworth. Admission is free, and attendees can expect to enjoy a plethora of entertainment options and activities. The celebration will feature live music, food booths, craft and business vendors, two oyster tents, a beer tent, a military appreciation tent – staffed by Boy Scout Troop #665 – and a children’s area with inflatables, rides and other attractions.

The musical acts will be announced soon as contracts are being finalized. Previous festival performers include the Gary Byrd Band, Lance Stinson, Luke Lander, The Homegrown Band, and the Savannah-based band, Tell Scarlet. The event is sponsored by Renasant Bank, a Mississippi-based financial institution with branches in Port Wentworth, Rincon and Springfield. “Renasant Bank is once again excited to partner with the Chamber and the City for this annual event.  This is a wonderful opportunity to both honor our veterans and spotlight our community,” said Renasant Bank Market President Barbara Liscio.

Vendors are needed, and the chamber is currently accepting applications. Anyone interested in selling food or retail goods can request a vendor application by contacting the Chamber by phone at 912-965-1999 or e-mailing info@visitportwentworth.com.

“Our Oyster Roast, BBQ & Music Festival has grown impressively each year and we pride ourselves on now being able to host a family-friendly, free event that the whole community can come out and enjoy without paying a steep price,” said Chamber of Commerce President Trisha Growe. “We encourage sellers to get their applications in because these are coveted spots, and the foot traffic throughout the event is always heavy. It’ll be a great night for Port Wentworth to show Coastal Georgia what a wonderful place our community is.”

The festival began in 2009 as an event mostly for chamber members, but quickly grew in popularity and began to expand. Within a couple years, it had outgrown its venue at the Lions Club Ballpark and relocated to accommodate bigger crowds. This year’s event is expected to be the largest yet, and organizers have been putting all the pieces in place for months, working hard to ensure another successful festival.
